Lamar City Park

Beautifully landscaped and fully functional, the Lamar City Park is the pride of Lamar. Located on the grounds of the City Park is an RV park, eight baseball/softball fields with four concession stands and restroom facilities. There is also an enclosed shelter with an attached restroom facility, fish pond, six covered pavilions, a one mile walking/biking trail, a children’s playground, two lighted basketball courts, a lighted tennis court with pickleball lines, a wooden covered bridge, a Santa Fe caboose and two smaller children’s play areas. Bring your friends and family and enjoy a day at the Park! The one mile walking/biking trail was paved in 2010, it is handicapped accessible and all at level grade.

Shelter Fees
The Enclosed Shelter, as well as Shelters 2 (across the creek to the west of the enclosed shelter), Shelter 3 (across the street from the playground) and Shelter 6 (Memorial Shelter on south side of the park across from the outfield of the high school baseball field) need to be reserved for use. There is a $25 refundable deposit required to hold your reservation. The Enclosed Shelter also requires a $25 rental fee. Shelters are available for use from mid-March through the last weekend in October each year. Reservations for the next year open the first Monday in November. Reservations can be made by visiting the Parks and Recreation Office or by using our Civic Rec online catalog.

Shelters 4, 5 and 7 are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.
Permits are required for events involving large groups or fundraising events. Contact the Parks and Recreation Office at 417-682-5851 for permit inquiries

RV Parking
There is limited RV parking available on the west side of the Lamar City Park. There are three RV electric only hookups available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is also a central dumping station and central filling station. There is also a restroom facility, although no showers are included at this time. RV Parking is free for one night, each night thereafter is $20 per night for a seven night maximum stay.
Ball Fields

The Lamar City Park is home to eight ball fields, including the home of Lamar High School Baseball and Softball and Lamar Youth Athletics Summer Ball.

Field one is a softball field with 60-foot bases, an all-dirt infield and 180-ft. fences. Field 2 or Shoff Field, is the home of Lamar High School Baseball. It has a bermuda grass infield, a clay pitching mound, 90-ft bases, is 300-feet down the foul lines and 355-feet to center. Fields 3 & 4 are right next to each other on the west side of the park. Both feature a bermuda grass infield, 60 foot bases and is 200 feet to center and 190 feet to the foul lines. Fields 5 & 6 are also on the west side of the park. They are all grass fields with 40-foot bases, used primarily for TBall. Between them is Frieda’s Playland, a playground for children under 5, named for long-time Park Board member Frieda Kaderly. Fields 7 & 8 are the newest fields and make up the south edge of the park. Field 7 is home to the Lamar High School Softball team. It has 60-foot bases, a dirt infield and 225 foot fences. Field 8 can have 60 or 70-foot bases, a dirt infield and 225-foot fences.

The ball fields are available to rent. Use for practices is free, but need to be scheduled through the Parks and Recreation Office. Field Rental can be done on our Civic Rec Online Catalog or by calling the Parks and Recreation Office.
